Centro Educativo Salesianos Talca (CEST) in Chile was recognized by the Maule Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Energy, along with the Liceo Marta Martínez Cruz de Yerbas Buenas, for its contribution to innovation in green hydrogen in the fields of electricity and electronics. The ceremony, held on August 13 in the auditorium of the Presidential Delegation, was attended by the Regional Ministerial Secretary for Government, Nataly Rojas, and the Regional Ministerial Secretary for Education, Cristian Bonfort.
The authorities highlighted the leadership of both institutions in promoting green hydrogen and its impact on Chile's energy future. “These young people, together with their teachers, are pioneers in the region (...), with this work we are advancing our energy plan, and they are gaining experience and opportunities,” said Rojas. Bonfort, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening skills that enable the country to be represented at national and international levels.
During the event, Paola Bruna, a professional from the Regional Ministry of Energy, praised the project carried out by both establishments, which developed a car powered by green hydrogen from the fields of electricity and electronics, presented as a pioneering initiative in sustainable transport. The teams gave a demonstration of the vehicles that will compete in the H2 Grand Prix (H2GP).
Patricio Cáceres, head of Electronics at CEST, and Lucas Olave, head of Electricity, agreed that this recognition motivates them to continue training students in clean technologies, reinforcing collaborative work and care for the environment. The team's lead student, Cristóbal Norambuena, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to learn about energy transmission.
The principal of CEST, Reinaldo Castro, congratulated the young people and encouraged them to continue learning about energy transmission and renewable energies, reminding them that this work involves the five specialties of the institution and reinforces the Salesian mission of training technicians committed to innovation and caring for the planet.
On September 2, 3, and 4, both schools will represent the Maule Region in the H2GP 2025 national competition. In addition, Norambuena will be part of the Chilean delegation participating in the Chile Fair in Osaka, Japan, to promote the development of green hydrogen.
