Nurturing Nature: Mega Tree Plantation Drive at Don Bosco College

In line with the growing global emphasis on environmental conservation, Don Bosco Cares for our Common Home (DBCCH) of Don Bosco College (Co-Ed), Yelagiri Hills in Tamil Nadu, India organized a Mega Tree Plantation Drive. This initiative encouraged students, staff, and stakeholders to actively take responsibility for the environment and contribute towards building a sustainable future.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with the entire community coming together to plant a variety of tree saplings. These included Teak, Water Apple, Mahogany, and Rosewood, which were strategically planted both within the college campus and in the surrounding areas. In total, 300 saplings were planted during the drive, symbolizing a collective effort to restore and protect nature.

The event was coordinated by Mr. Jayabalan, DBCCH Coordinator, and Mr. Stephen D. Luker, Green Hills Club Animator, who played a pivotal role in encouraging students to take an active part in nurturing nature. Their guidance and motivation inspired the participants to understand the importance of environmental conservation and to commit themselves to this noble cause.

This tree plantation drive significantly enhanced the greenery of the campus and its neighboring areas, creating an immediate visual impact and setting the foundation for long-term environmental benefits. Beyond planting trees, the event was a call to action, inspiring all stakeholders to become proactive guardians of the environment.

Through this initiative, Don Bosco College not only aims to nurture these trees but also to cultivate a lasting sense of environmental stewardship among its students and the larger community. This collective commitment underscores the college’s vision to contribute meaningfully to a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.
