Don Bosco continue the commitment for Green Mongolia
Darkhan, Mongolia
In response to the call of the Mongolian government on the 1 billion trees planting project in Mongolia, and commemorating 30 years of the Catholic Church’s presence in Mongolia (1992-2022,) the Apostolic Prefecture with its Caritas marks this celebration by planting trees in all Catholic parishes and congregations.
The Salesians in Darkhan provided 5100 trees, and the Apostolic prefecture provided for the transportation and delivery to different parishes and congregations. The Salesian Delegation of Mongolia is actively involved in the global Catholic environment movement. Salesians and their mission partners, members of the education or pastoral institutions have been trying to promote trash separation and recycling, planting trees in the country. There are instructions and presentations in schools, community, and youth centers of the Delegation to raise awareness of global ecology and Laudato Si’. Hopefully, however slight, the Salesians can help to promote the right attitude to make our world greener.
The tree planting commitment of Don Bosco Darkhan can be watched on their YouTube video with the whole process from the seedlings, to the distribution, including the former parish of Bishop Cardinal Giorgio Marengo, ICM in Arkhangai (Архангай), with the Consolata Missionary Sisters and Fr Titus (Donbosco Darkhan channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMDZFxZI8zU).
The 'green ocean' of 1.000.000.000 trees is made also of the 5100+ tree 'drops' contributed by Don Bosco!
