Participation in the Environmental Fair for Water and Biodiversity
The Salesian Agricultural School of Catemu, Chile had the honor of participating in the Environmental Fair for Water and Biodiversity, an event organized by the Environmental Department of the Municipality of Catemu together with the Terram Foundation. This event brought together various institutions committed to the care of the environment and the promotion of sustainable practices.
Our educational community presented an outstanding display of agroecological initiatives, which included:
🌱 The use of Luffa as a substitute for synthetic sponges, highlighting its biodegradable and environmentally friendly properties.
🌿 Natural biopreparations, such as nettle, used to fertilize crops and the biopreparation was explained as pest control in an organic way, reducing the use of chemicals.
🌾 The cultivation and use of humus, highlighting its multiple benefits as a natural fertilizer in the improvement of agricultural soils.
💧 Water treatment, presenting our sustainable solutions for the efficient management of water resources, aligned with the current challenges in the rural context.
The students of our school were the great protagonists, representing the institution with knowledge, commitment and passion for sustainability. Through their explanations and samples, they managed to capture the interest of the attendees, who valued the positive impact that these practices have on agroecology and the environment.
These types of events not only make visible the work we do in our school, but also reinforce the commitment of our students as agents of change in the construction of a greener and more responsible future. We congratulate all those who made this great participation possible! 👏🌿
