Up Beat Response To Pope Francis’ - “Laudato Si”

Bro. Alex Abelgas SDB. A Salesian Lay Brother from the Salesian Community of Don Bosco Boys’ Home – Liloan, Cebu Philippines is upbeat with his response to Pope Francis’ challenge on his Encyclical Letter “LAUDATO SI’” - “ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME”. With his own simple unnoticed character, he promoted wellbeing among the young through vegetable production. He conceptualized the production of lettuce vegetable using the HYDROPONICS TECHNOLOGY of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. Soliciting money from his close friends, he constructed a new Green House for Vegetable Production, visibly as one of the main attractions inside Don Bosco Boys Home – Liloan. Though still at the early stage of his project, he has already provided delicious lettuce vegetable to the Salesian Community. As he partnered with the Dept. of Agriculture – Cebu, he dreams to attached his project as one of the programs that will be implemented by the DON BOSCO BOYS HOME TRAINING CENTER -LILOAN headed by Fr. Ding SDB. not only for sustainability but especially to provide systematic training among the young and to the nearby communities the LOVE FOR AND CARE FOR MOTHER NATURE!
