Venezuela – A message on care for Creation from the Salesian Mission of La Esmeralda

(ANS – La Esmeralda) – The end of the school year at the La Esmeralda Educational Centre, in the Upper Amazon region of Venezuela, was marked by a strong ecological message and a focus on raising environmental awareness. At the heart of the reflection was the conviction that human beings are called to be custodians and protectors of nature, not its destroyers. The initiative highlighted the value of the ancestral wisdom of indigenous peoples, who have passed down respect for the earth, the cycles of life and the natural environment from generation to generation. In particular, the role of the Amazon as one of the planet’s most important ecological treasures was emphasised, essential for the Earth’s balance and for the future of coming generations. Through this celebration, the Salesian educational community of La Esmeralda sought to launch an appeal for environmental protection, calling on people to lovingly safeguard forests, mountains, woodlands and plains. The message addressed to the students and local communities highlights the shared responsibility to protect Creation and to promote a lifestyle that respects nature, in harmony with the values of the Amazon’s indigenous cultures.
