The initiative strengthens environmental education and promotes awareness of climate change among children, adolescents, young people, and adults served by the institution.
In celebration of World Environment Day, observed on June 5, Obra Social São João Bosco in Campinas, Brazil, announces the winners of the 4th Cultural Photography and Drawing Contest, an initiative that is part of the institution’s socio-environmental education efforts. This year’s theme was “Now for the Climate,” with the motto “The urgent signals the Earth sends and the signals we choose to send back.”
The contest’s aim was to encourage participants to reflect on today’s environmental challenges, especially climate change, and to express their perceptions through art. Through drawings and photographs, children, adolescents, young people, and adults were able to demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to building a more sustainable future.
More than just a cultural activity, the contest is an important educational tool that contributes to strengthening environmental education, fostering values such as responsibility, citizenship, solidarity, and care for our Common Home. The initiative aligns with Obra Social São João Bosco’s commitment to promoting a holistic education capable of raising participants’ awareness of the social and environmental challenges of our time.
Given the increasingly evident impacts of climate change across the globe, it is essential to create educational spaces that foster environmental awareness from childhood onward. By providing opportunities for reflection and artistic expression, the contest helps participants understand their role in preserving the environment and building more sustainable communities.
Obra Social São João Bosco congratulates all participants for the dedication, creativity, and sensitivity demonstrated in their submitted works. Each drawing and photograph submitted reinforces the importance of education as a path to social and environmental transformation.
