Don Bosco Chinchwad joyfully marked Season of Creation on September 23, 2025, embracing the inspiring theme, "One Earth, One Chance." The celebration commenced with a warm welcome extended to PP. RTN. Ganesh Bora, President of the Rotary Club Pimpri, along with distinguished club members, and respected journalist Mr Camil Parkhe, known for his work with Navhind Times, Sakal Times, and other leading publications. Sr Sujeet, Superior of Mother Theresa Ashram, and the institute's Administrator, Fr Colbert da Silva along with Fr Bosco D'Mello, Fr Jeffrey Fernandes, staff, and students were also present to honor the occasion. The event began with a lively welcome song by the institute’s talented students, setting an enthusiastic tone.
Principal Sir Nilesh Chandgude followed with a brief, insightful presentation emphasizing the importance of environmental consciousness. Mr Camil Parkhe delivered the keynote address, sharing thought-provoking perspectives on the theme of creation, inspiring all attendees. This was beautifully complemented by a soulful environmental song performed by Mrs Mary William. The Chief Guest delivered an enlightening speech reinforcing the day’s focus on ecological responsibility.
In an engaging hands-on session, Mr. Vincent Joseph explained the seed ball workshop to dignitaries, staff, and students. Participants, including selected students and guests, collaborated to make the first seed balls as a practical step towards environmental care.
The practice of giving students mud and seeds to make seed balls—balls of mud with seeds inside that are dried and then thrown into open grounds or jungles to encourage plant growth—is a recognized environmental workshop activity. This method, often linked with the concept of "seed bombs" or "seed balls," helps promote afforestation and green cover enhancement. Such workshops give students hands-on experience in making these seed balls by mixing native seeds with mud and compost, drying them, and later distributing them in suitable locations where, upon rain, the seeds germinate and grow into saplings. The activity encourages environmental awareness, responsibility, and practical ecological contribution.
The event continued with the announcement of the Don Bosco Eco Club members by Principal Nilesh, followed by a solemn pledge led by Mrs Poorva and Mr Patil, affirming the institution’s commitment to protect the planet. The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Fr Anton D'Souza and the institute anthem.
The institute expressed gratitude to all for their enthusiastic involvement in reaffirming the pledge to safeguard our planet—truly, "One Earth, One Chance." Season of Creation at Don Bosco Chinchwad was a meaningful reminder of collective responsibility towards environmental sustainability.
