On May 13, the Centro Educativo Salesianos Talca (CEST) General Parents and Guardians Association (CGPA) at Chile delivered the plastic bottle caps collected during the charity campaign organized by the school community.
The collection took place on May 9, as part of the bingo event organized by the CGPA. The parents and guardians received and weighed the materials contributed by students, families, and staff, totaling 157 kilograms of bottle caps.
This figure includes the weight of the bag and containers used for collection, equivalent to approximately three and a half kilograms. The net total exceeded 153 kilograms of recyclable material.
The Municipality of Talca served as the intermediary for the collection and weighing of the materials.
The campaign was led by Ruth Aedo Mena, head of Comprehensive Ecology at the CGPA, who highlighted the parents’ commitment to solidarity and their motivation in this charitable and environmentally conscious initiative.
Teacher Nicolás Ulloa noted that families’ involvement in environmental activities is essential to strengthening care for our shared home. “As an educational institution, we want to maintain this connection and do our part. We thank the CGPA, parents, and students for their participation and collaboration in this initiative. We hope that more families will join in these activities,” he said.
The bottle caps will be sold, and the proceeds will go to the Damas de Café Foundation, an organization that provides direct support to children with cancer at Calvo Mackenna Hospital.
