Pope Francis left us a beautiful legacy with his encyclical Laudato Si’, in which he invites us to care for our Common Home. Every year, from the Salesian House La Piedad, at Bahia Blanca in Argentina, we try to take up that challenge.
As part of a Green Agenda set each year, the ECO LA PIEDAD CONTEST was held from September 20 (World Cleanup Day) to October 4 (St. Francis of Assisi).
This contest is unique as it begins within each of the families that make up the educational community of La Piedad. In their homes, waste separation is promoted, and students are invited to bring their waste to the ECO GALPON. There, it is received and scored, to participate in prizes for the classes that achieve the most waste separation.
The annual contest is organized by the Ñuque Mapu youth eco-group. This year, 1,510 kilos of waste was sorted for recycling. The contest concluded with the presentation of awards to those who, individually or as a group, made significant contributions.
Thank you to all the students and teachers at La Piedad for your commitment to caring for the planet, our Common Home!
